Keeping citrus happy in containers

Yellow leaves, dropped fruit and shy flowering usually trace back to three fixable things. Here they are.
Even moisture, never soggy
Citrus drops flowers and small fruit when the root ball swings between bone dry and waterlogged. Aim for steadily damp — water when the top inch dries, and always empty the saucer.
Feed the micronutrients
Pale leaves with green veins mean iron or zinc shortage, not lack of nitrogen. A citrus-specific micronutrient feed in spring and autumn corrects it within weeks.
Repot before it strangles itself
Every second or third year, slide the plant out, trim circling roots and return it with fresh mix. Keep the graft union well clear of the soil.
